'' The Voodoo Collection celebrates the mysticism, magic, and expansiveness of the religion, inspired by its permanence in the New Orleans landscape and culture. ''

Let me start off by saying that the launch party for the VooDoo Collection by Porter Lyons was by far, the coolest event I've ever been to. It took place on the rooftop of an apartment complex in the Bywater a couple Saturdays ago. The evening's entertainment consisted of  flame-throwers, tarot card readers, a fortune teller, and a killer red carpet. How many red carpet events have you been to where the props were an alligator, snake, or nutria?! (The snake's mouth wasn't taped shut so I passed.)

As I expected, the entire line was absolutely amazing.  I loved her use of natural/precious stones, darker colored metals, as well as how she incorporated parts of the snakes into her designs. It gave the collection a very spooky and tribal vibe. The Damballah Necklace, Mississippi Snake Ring, and the gold Cobra Drop Earrings were a few of my favorites.

For my outfit, I stuck to my usual uniform - a black top, distressed denim, and strappy heels.

You can shop all the items that were featured in this post here !!

This past Thursday I had the pleasure of shooting this look with the talented Bryce Ell of Bryce Ell Photography ! He did a fantastic job of capturing the effortless vibe of this look.

I wore this outfit to White Linen Night in New Orleans a couple weeks back. I'm obsessed with these ripped jeans from Forever21. I had been searching for the perfect pair for so long and I love how they look against the black and white tank top. You'll definitely be seeing them a lot in future posts.

Keep up with Bryce on Instagram and Twitter - his pictures are killer.

Arguably the most classic piece of clothing a woman can own - a little black dress. (Or LBD, for short. Congrats if you caught the Fall Out Boy reference )
I own about nine LDB's, myself. They're one of my favorite things to wear and are always my go-to piece for events. Just switch out your shoes and add a couple of statement accessories and you can easily take your look from day to night. I came across this one at the Banana Republic in Shreveport a couple weeks back. It fits like a glove and I just love the neckline!

In other news, White Linen Night is happening tomorrow in nola! I still have no clue what I'm wearing. Follow along with me on Instagram to see what I'll be up to! @theelegantblogger

Happy Friday!

Last Thursday was the MPAC ( Music, Art, People, Community) event hosted by 225 Magazine and inRegister Magazine in Baton Rouge, Louisiana at the Shaw Center for the Arts.

The sold out event was held throughout all six stories of the Shaw Center and had everything from a photo-booth to a sushi restaurant on the roof. It was so much fun!! (Special thanks to my super-stylish friend who invited me, I had a blast!)

You can see all the pictures from the event [ here ]

The dress-code was all white with the choice of casual or cocktail attire. So naturally, I chose the more formal option and accessorized this little white dress with gold jewelry and a black envelope clutch and heels.
