Happy Halloween, y'all!

I've dressed up a couple times in the past, but this is the first time I've ever blogged about it. This look was so much fun to put together! I decided to use some items that were already in my closet (minus the ears).

The black romper has proved to be one of the most versatile pieces in my wardrobe. You can easily dress it up or down with minimal accessory changes. I've worn it with sandals during the summer, a cream colored cardigan and beige booties, and even with heels for a fancier look.

Finding the perfect one-piece can be tricky, but it you know what to look for.

1. Cut- It's very important to pay attention to the way the garment is cut. Make sure it's proportioned correctly to fit your body. I.e, if you're tall and long-torsoed like me, look for a longer style with a bit of give. Otherwise you'll end up being the victim of a terrible wedgie, if you know what I mean...

2. Quality - Choosing a higher end material will benefit for you in the long run. The garment will hold it's shape if you have it dry-cleaned.

3. Print - In addition to choosing a good material, pick a print or a solid neural color that will mix and pair well with other items in your wardrobe.

Hope these tips help! Enjoy your weekend.

This past Saturday was the launch party for Porter Lyon's Deco Bohemia collection. The event was held at the gorgeous Longue Vue Gardens in Old Metaire and featured a band, small bites, a hot air balloon, burlesque, and (of course) bubbly! Strolling through the Alice-in-Wonderland-like gardens was lovely, I felt like I was in the Great Gatsby.

This decadent collection was inspired by the rich culture during the 1920's period in New Orleans through a bohemian take on art-deco jewelry. The gorgeous golden chevron cuffs, disco/deco rings, and dainty silver necklace were among my favorites. Everything from this collection just screamed "elegance." As if it couldn't get any better, proceeds from the collection benefit the George Rodrigue Foundation and Longue Vue House and Gardens in an effort to preserve local art and culture.

Thanks Porter Lyons for an incredibly magical evening! I can't wait to get my hands on those jewels! xx

Every year in New Orleans, Magazine St has a block party where various boutiques, galleries, and shops stay open after hours and usually host some kind of in-store event. This year there was live music, free snoballs, trunk shows, and lots of shopping (obviously) I took some pics of my favorite shops as well as some new ones. If you're in the area be sure to stop by! xx

Images starting after the first -
2)  Me at Trendz nola with the store's lovely owner, Jenny.
3-4) The boutique's owner, Sarah. At my newest boutique discovery, Bella & Harlow
5) My girl Jess Leigh looking adorable showing off some of her
fabulous designs. You can view her new Fall Lookbook - here... you might see someone you know.
6) That time I witnessed Ashley Longshore dancing with a bunch of Chanel bags.
7-10) Interior decor heaven at AKA Stella Gray. I want everything.
11-13) The most gorgeous and colorful New Orleans inspired prints, paintings, and coasters
at the B. Fos Gallery.
14) My look for the evening. Wearing a sweater from LOFT ,  distressed jeans from GAP, Converse, and a messenger bag from Forever21.
15-18) After we snapped an obligatory #ootd pic, my sister/photographer and I shopped around the killer frames at Warby Parker.
19) Just some Mardi Gras beads on a gate. #onlyinNOLA
20-25) We arrived a little late to the Mignon Faget party, but were there long enough to realize that her new hardware collection (images 22 and 21) is EVERYTHING.
