For today's post, I teamed up with my super talented photographer friend Chet. We shot in the French Quarter and (fun fact) it was actually my very first 'legit' shoot! I even did my own hair/makeup and now have the utmost respect every MUA I know. False lashes...I don't know how you do it.

Although it didn't actually rain, the weather in/around New Orleans has been so nasty lately, it's been nearly impossible to do any sort of outfit shoot whatsoever. I figured this post would be fitting and I'm OBSESSED with how they turned out.

Be sure to check to follow Chet on Insta to see more of his killer photography!

A couple weeks back, my friend Jeffrey and I ventured out into the Bywater to shoot on the bridge near Crescent Park. This was my second time shooting there, but it was by far the most fun. Especially since I wore this gorgeous high-low skirt from Od.Aomo . It's so elegant and I love how it flowed against the rust colored bridge.

High-low skirts are great to have when you can't decide whether or not to wear a mini or floor-length skirt. You get the best of both worlds. They're also a great way to update your basic 'party skirt', and are extremely flattering on most body types. And not to mention being just plain fun to wear. I felt like a princess in this one.

I paired this one with an embellished tank, black strappy heels, and accessorized with my usual array of gold jewelry and an animal skin clutch - also by the designer.

Be sure to stop by Od.Aomo's Facebook Page and Instagram to see her latest designs!

While you're at it, stop by Jeffrey's Instagram to see more of his kick-ass photography.

During my trip to Texas a few weeks ago ( more like a month now, actually) one of my super-talented photographer/blogger friends - Chana Bainter, and I shot these outfits in Downtown Dallas. I still can't get over how cool the brick and wood backdrops were. Omg.

Chana and her family are very dear to me and I really enjoyed getting to visit and spend time with them on the trip. Even if they don't take Instagram or 'food-selfies' seriously... hehe. It was nice to escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life (and also the humidity) It felt strange (not gonna lie) to wake up late, have someone else make coffee, not have dishes to do, and really relax. Being a tourist was also fun, if you weren't following along on Insta - you missed out.

Now for the outfits - I happened upon this over-sized white sweatshirt a while back during one of my 'I'm only going into Target for one thing I swear' trips. It's become one of my favorite summer staples for a multitude of reasons. One of them being my love for it's extremely flattering shape and fit. Seriously, how often is it that you find a top that's more comfortable than your pj's and looks great with jeans?! Exactly.

Chana kept her outfit minimal and classy (as usual) pairing her Gap skinny jeans with a simple forest green Loft blouse and accessorized with gold jewelry. Although her blog mainly focuses on her lifestyle/writing, she's quite the fashionista. Be sure to check out her blog and Pinterest page, you'll love it. I promise.

Blue Jeans + Calfskin Bags

// Outfit Details - Blouse, Ann Taylor (old) | Jeans, KUT from the Kloth | Heels, c/o Versona
Accessories | Calfskin Cross-body Bag, c/o Lady Sophia | Knuckle Ring, Porter Lyons | Spike Bracelet, c/o TrendzNOLA + The Limited //

I recently attended a trunk show for one of my favorite local designers - Lady Sophia! ( See my coverage of her debut runway show, here ) The Kenyan-born designer's latest line features beautiful handmade jewelry, colorful dresses and skirts, and my personal favorite - these drop-dead gorgeous calfskin bags. After drooling over them at the show I was able to pull a couple of my favorites to style here on the blog!

This one in particular is the perfect size and style for summer and it goes with everything. Although it can be difficult for me to operate out of such a small purse, cross-body bags have become my go-to accessory this summer.

I chose to pair the bag with a pair of flared jeans and heeled clogs, but I'd also style it with an LBD or some textured shorts and t-shirt. I love how adding an unexpected print to an outfit can really amp up the 'luxe-factor'.  I'm also a huge fan of any kind of animal printed piece paired with something red. It really makes the print POP. To compete this look I accessorized with some simple gold statement jewelry to compliment the hardware of the bag and some basic brown mules.

Thanks so much for reading!
