Yesterday afternoon celebrated the grand opening of KREWE Du Optic's flagship store, located at 809 Royal St in New Orleans. The in-store event featured a first look at their new space, a killer espresso bar by Merchant (yes, a freaking espresso bar) and they were handing out spiked snoballs. The definitely met the mark for #SundayFunday.

This local brand has created quite a following thanks to their fantastic array of shades. My favorites are the Julia and Charles frames. Their fans include various stylish locals as well as some celebs such as Queen B, Alessandra Ambrosio, and Gigi Hadid (who have been seen in this particular frame)

I remember attending the brand's launch party back in 2013 and it's been so exciting to watch them grow and expand. Congrats on your new store, KREWE!

OOTD : White Linen Night

White Linen Night is one of my favorite annual events here in New Orleans. (Even though I dress in the opposite of my usual uniform- all black) On the first Saturday of August, four blocks of Julia St. are closed off for a three hour, New Orleans style block party. All the art galleries and shops in that area open their doors to the public and there are smaller events, live music, and amazing local food.

For a full list of the galleries, visit the Art District's Website.

It's such a fun and unique experience and a MUST if you live in the area or just happen to be passing through. Just don't forget to wear something white!

Due to the terrible heat that has been terrorizing nola lately, I kept my outfit pretty simple. This linen top from banana is surprisingly light and breathable, two key elements when dressing for [pretty much any] outside event this time of year. I also accessorized with some dainty gold jewelry, specifically my new favorite necklace from RocksBox. In case you're unfamiliar with the brand, Rocksbox is a monthly subscription jewelery company that includes brands such as Kendra Scott, Loren Hope, and House of Harlow 1960. I haven't stopped wearing this necklace since it came in the mail and you can wear it lots of different ways.

A couple of weeks back I attended the wrap party for Art + Design Magazine's release of their 'Beauty'  issue. The all-white event was held at Desi Vega's Steakhouse in New Orleans. I loved the laid back and classy atmosphere as well as each guest's take on the dress code. The even featured trunk shows for two local brands, NOLA Ware- a men's wear line of formal wear and accessories and Root, an eco friendly line of wooden sunglasses.

There were so many great things about this issue, but one of my absolute favorites was an editorial that was shot in Portland. The colorful images of models draped in fur coats and printed pants were breathtaking and being a huge advocate for anything that even remotely channels the 70's - I was immediately obsessed. You can see some of the images here.

For my outfit I kept it simple with distressed denim and a blazer. Other attendees donned crocheted tunics, lace coachella-esque dresses, off white linen suits, and some simply added pops of white to their look. The last three images include my favorite outfits from the party. Who says all-white has to be boring?

'' The Voodoo Collection celebrates the mysticism, magic, and expansiveness of the religion, inspired by its permanence in the New Orleans landscape and culture. ''

Let me start off by saying that the launch party for the VooDoo Collection by Porter Lyons was by far, the coolest event I've ever been to. It took place on the rooftop of an apartment complex in the Bywater a couple Saturdays ago. The evening's entertainment consisted of  flame-throwers, tarot card readers, a fortune teller, and a killer red carpet. How many red carpet events have you been to where the props were an alligator, snake, or nutria?! (The snake's mouth wasn't taped shut so I passed.)

As I expected, the entire line was absolutely amazing.  I loved her use of natural/precious stones, darker colored metals, as well as how she incorporated parts of the snakes into her designs. It gave the collection a very spooky and tribal vibe. The Damballah Necklace, Mississippi Snake Ring, and the gold Cobra Drop Earrings were a few of my favorites.

For my outfit, I stuck to my usual uniform - a black top, distressed denim, and strappy heels.
