Recently, I have been [somewhat] reinventing and editing my style. (Maybe it's the New Year?) 
I've taken all the items out of my closet that just aren't ''me'' or that I've simply never worn and have replaced them with some updated basics. Although this striped Forever21 top made the cut, over the last few months I've purchased several different versions of it and they have proved to be some of the best pieces in my closet! They go with every and anything and can be worn any time of year. The same principle applies to skinny jeans and jackets, invest in simple, classic pieces that you can get the most wear out of. 

I've also found myself being attracted to neutrals instead of  brightly-colored items, (I prefer to accessorize with color) and to items (mainly jewelry) with a bit of an edge. Like instead of a pearl bracelet, I'd go for a thick faux-gold chain link bracelet with a tassel. [etc]

Black and Gold

 Hello dears!
 I hope ya'll had a fabulous Christmas and New Year! I definitely did. 
One of the things I received this Christmas was this gorgeous alligator backbone ring from Porter Lyons! 
It was a gift from a very dear friend of mine (who has excellent taste, obvi) and it's my go-to statement accessory. You'll definitely be seeing a lot of it in future posts! 

This black lace top from J Crew was one of my Black Friday finds and I absolutely love it. I've worn it to meetings, brunch, church, and pretty much any time I have an excuse to dress up. I've styled it today with a pair of dark wash skinny jeans and beige ankle boots. You could also wear it tucked into a sleek black pencil skirt or, for more of a casual look, with a pair of ripped up faded jeans.

Tea Room Break

Hello dears! Eeeeek it's almost Christmas y'all! I'm so excited. 

This past weekend, a dear family friend of my family I's was able to join us on one of our (sometimes monthly) trips to the English Tea Room in Covington. It's absolutely the cutest place ever. 
If you live in or near Covington I highly recommend stopping in. It's precious. 
It's definitely my go-to spot to take a break from all the holiday madness. 

( P.S Get the Strawberry Shortcake Tea. It's perfection. )

Hope you enjoyed this post and have finished all your Christmas shopping! I literally just finished wrapping gifts. I always forget how OCD I am until I find myself color-coordinating my gifts with the paper and tissue they're being wrapped in. And the bows too. ( I'm sure you do it too? Maybe.)
